    Some organizations will promise to help you create a new credit identity that will allow you start over. The creation of a new credit identity, according to them, involves the creation of a new credit report that is free from bad credit scores and unwanted markings.

    Organizations offering these kinds of services are obviously credit repair scams because they promote the changing of identities. Being associated with the fraudulent act of creating a new credit identity could make you go to prison.

    They promise to eliminate the negative information from your credit report.

    Another indication of credit repair scams is the promise of eliminating negative information from your credit report. Some organizations or individuals offering “credit repair services" claim that in exchange for a free, they will help you eliminate all notations of bankruptcy or defaults from your credit report.

    You have to remember that any kind of negative information can only be removed from a person's credit report if he manages to improve his credit score. Credit score improvement can be done by either repaying or consolidating debts. The elimination of negative information from your credit report could be a case of tampering because the only type of information that can be removed from a credit report are those which are incorrect.
